About Dr. Singh

Dr. Manjula Singh knew from a very early age as a child in India that she would pursue medicine. She began her training after placing second in the state of Bihar’s medical school entry examinations, and completed her MD at Patna Medical College with honors in 1992. She then moved to the United States and began her residency in Internal Medicine at United Hospital Medical Center in northern New Jersey. Her interest in critical care led her to shift her specialty to anesthesia at Long Island University Hospital. During her time as an anesthesia resident, she was exposed to pain management, both in acute and chronic settings. She has since joined as Dr. Dharam Mann’s longtime practicing associate, managing chronic pain in the outpatient setting, and acting as a pivotal member of the elective procedural team. She credits her success as an anesthesiologist not only to this depth of academic success, but also a commitment to the details and steadiness in the often stressful setting of anesthesia.

Dr. Singh is the proud wife of Dr. Awani Kumar, a pulmonologist in the New Jersey area, and the mother of two wonderful boys. She loves listening to music, interior decorating, gardening, and traveling abroad with her family in her free time.

At the core of my care philosophy is compassion and empathy. I pride myself on truly listening to my patients and contextualizing their pain beyond simple scales. I combine this patient-centric approach with my medical expertise to formulate a care plan that is both scientifically sound and accommodating to each patient’s very individualized needs.
