Pain management care in Toms River
Our Toms River office at 1314 Hooper Avenue is the main home of Garden State Medical Center. It is where many patients from across Ocean County first meet our pain management team. If back, neck, joint or nerve pain is getting in the way of work, sleep or time with family, this is a practical place to start.
The office is on the first floor at 1314 Hooper Avenue, across from Chili's Grill and just before Red Lobster. Hooper Avenue is one of the main roads through Toms River, so it is easy to reach from Route 37, the Garden State Parkway and downtown. Patients come to us from Toms River itself and from nearby towns such as Island Heights, South Toms River, Beachwood, Pine Beach, Berkeley Township and Bayville. Others drive in from Lakewood or over the bridges from Seaside Heights and the barrier island.
Pain management at GSMC starts with finding where the pain comes from. At your first visit, your provider reviews your history, your imaging and the treatments you have already tried, and examines you. Pain can come from a pinched nerve, a worn facet joint, a damaged disc, the sacroiliac joint, an arthritic knee or tight, overworked muscles. Each needs a different plan. We often begin with conservative care such as physical therapy, activity changes and medicines. When those are not enough, we talk through image-guided injections, nerve ablation or, for long-standing pain, stimulator therapy.
Dr. Dharam Mann, who leads the practice, sees patients at this office. He is board certified in anesthesiology and pain medicine and completed fellowship training at Massachusetts General Hospital / Harvard Medical School. His focus is non-surgical, image-guided care. He works alongside interventional pain specialist Dr. Samir Jani, pain management specialist Dr. Manjula Singh, rheumatologist Dr. Shahzad Hussain, sports medicine physician Dr. Thomas Agesen, physician assistant Alisja Hartman and nurse practitioner Christina DiPaolo. Having pain, rheumatology and sports medicine providers in one building means your care can be coordinated without starting over at a new practice.
Many people come to us after a car accident, a work injury or years of slowly worsening back pain. Others come with sciatica, knee arthritis or neuropathy, or after a spine surgery that did not fully relieve their pain. We take time to explain each option, what it involves, the risks, and what a realistic result looks like for you. Results vary from person to person, and we tell you that plainly.
The office is open Monday through Friday, 8am to 5pm. Please bring your photo ID, insurance card, a list of your medicines and any recent MRI or X-ray reports. If you have questions about parking, building access or what to bring, call us at 732-202-3000 before your visit. To get started, call the same number or request a consultation online.
