Dr. Sarah Choxi, MD is a board-certified anesthesiologist and interventional pain management specialist. She completed her anesthesia residency at the prestigious Weill Cornell Medical Center in New York City where she trained at three of the nation’s top hospitals (New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center – top 10 US News and World Report hospital, Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center – top cancer center in the United States, and Hospital for Special Surgery – top orthopedic and rheumatologic hospital in the United States). A Chicago native, Dr. Choxi completed her multidisciplinary interventional pain medicine fellowship at Northwestern Medicine in Chicago where she mastered the art of integrating several areas of pain medicine including interventional pain management, chronic pain rehabilitation, cancer pain and palliative care, acute pain, pediatric chronic pain, neurology, psychiatry and clinical research. Prior to this, she completed her medical education at the George Washington University School of Medicine where she also spent four months working at a Congressional office lobbying for better healthcare equality for all Americans.
Dr. Choxi understands the need for an evidence-based yet personalized treatment plan to alleviate her patients’ suffering. She offers a wide variety of interventions, including epidural steroid injections, facet joint blocks, sacroiliac joint injections, peripheral nerve blocks, and joint injections to improve her patients’ quality of life. She has extensive research involvement and keeps current on the latest medical literature and advanced procedural techniques in order to optimize each patient’s functionality and minimize suffering.
Dr. Choxi has published several peer-reviewed articles on the latest pain procedures available for back and knee pain. She has also written many book chapters on headaches, abdominal pain, muscular pain and chronic regional pain syndrome. In addition, she has presented at scientific meetings and has been an invited speaker at several medical centers to educate colleagues on pain management. Dr. Choxi is an active member of the American Society of Anesthesiologists and American Society of Regional Anesthesia & Pain Medicine.
